Now the fun stuff, how to get the best return on your investment. Whether you are getting ready to sell or lease your home, there are a couple of things you can invest into that will not only help market your property, but also help get some of the cost back from the investment. One of the best things you can spend your money on and still expect some return is replacing exterior side paneling with upscale fiber cement. Though it may cost you an average of $13,461 the return is 78%, according to MSN. Also, another potentially great investment and something to think about, is replacing the front door. Replacing your front door is relatively cheap and easy to do. At an average of $1238 the payback is about 73% and adds curb appeal to the property, which can go a long way.

Wonder what some of the worst returns on investment are ? According to National Association of Realtors (NAR) a home office can be a poor choice, investment wise. A home office can be beneficial to you, but it is important to remember it is a personal preference. Unless you are going to get what you put into by the amount of personal use, it is suggested that you think twice about viewing it as an “investment”. Your return is probably going to be in the 43% range. Also, another possible poor investment is an upscale garage. Sorry fellas, its true. With the average cost of $80,500 and a return of 54.7% it might not be the best investment decision.
